Maine Forestry Museum MFM Forest Service Ranger 223 (Joel Cyr) pulls over on the Golden Road to let a load of wood go by in 1973. We found this rusted peavey head a few years back while searching for remains of the 1919 lookout on the summit of Black Cat Mountain in T1 R9. The handle was completely rotted off. It now hangs on the porch at camp.

***2018 Maine Forestry Museum Schedule of Events***

Tuesday, June 12th – The Museum will be holding its Opening Celebration from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Please drop by if you can and enjoy light refreshments. This kick-off the 2018 season will showcase our reorganization of the Museum and find out our BIG plans for 2018!!!

Wednesday, June 13th – The Museum opens its doors from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (Wed. – Sun.) for the 2018 season.

Saturday, June 30th – Join us for our Live Auction. Preview starts at 9:30 a.m. Auction begins at 10 a.m.

Friday, July 27th – Join us at the Museum for the 38th Annual Logging Festival enjoy Museum displays, vendors, burying of the beans for the Bean Hole Dinner to be served on Saturday of the Festival and much more….. The Festival runs from 10-4 pm on Friday. Friday night starting at 7 pm will be our 34th Annual Little Mr & Miss Woodchip competition with Cloggers, Live Music, refreshments and more…..

Saturday, July 28th – The Museum will be holding the 38th Annual Logging Festival & Parade, the Parade starts at 10 am on Main St. in Rangeley, with the Logging Festival at the museum after the parade. The Festival runs from 11-4 pm on Saturday. The Logging Festival will include the Lumberjack and Lumberjill competitions sponsored by Stihl, our Famous Bean Hole Dinner, Museum displays, vendors, children’s activities, and more…….This coincides with the Rangeley Health and Wellness Center’s Concert this year’s band is Creedence Clearwater Revisited!!!!!

Thursday, September 6th-The Museum starts its fall hours. Thursday to Sunday from 11-4.

Sunday, September 16th- The Museum will hold its Annual Meeting and Elections at 4 p.m., refreshments will be served. We invite all members to come and hear what are plans are for the future and to vote on any open board seats. We also encourage the general public to come and join us!

Saturday, September 29th – 26th Annual Apple Harvest Festival, located at The Church of the Good Shepherd, 2614 Main Street, Rangeley. The Festival runs from 9-3. “Lumberjack Breakfast” starts at 9 am and runs until we sell-out. Children’s Pumpkin Activity Center, baked goods table, balloon animals, face painting, apple pressing (bring your own container), chainsaw carvers, indoor/outdoor logging displays, vendors and more! This coincides with the Rangeley Oktoberfest so there will be a lot going on in town!

Sunday, October 7th- Will be the last day of the 2018 season.
